Welcome to Buffalo Grove

A diverse, unexpected touch of vibrancy just north of Chicago

Often named among Illinois’ best places to live, Buffalo Grove is one of Chicago’s most upscale suburbs, located approximately 25 miles north of the Loop. Officially a village, the beautiful parks, outdoor amenities, cozy cafes, and fun activities have brought a diverse array of life and vibrancy to an otherwise tranquil suburban neighborhood.

The first white settler arrived in the early 1800s, with many other northeasterners following suit soon after, receiving land grants from the government. Before World War II, Buffalo Grove was largely rural and consisted mostly of dairy farmers. After decades of continued growth, Buffalo Grove experienced a tremendous increase in population in the ‘70s. After local annexations and the creation of specialized departments, Buffalo Grove has truly grown into its own and made great strides ahead of its time to improve the quality of life for its residents.

Buffalo Grove is plentiful with dining options. Cafes, traditional favorites, and steaks worthy of a special date-night occasion are testaments to the culinary talents this close-knit community has attracted from the big city.

One of Buffalo Grove’s swankiest stops can be found at Wildfire, an all-American steakhouse also serving up seafood, craft burgers, and creative cocktails. This neighborhood staple has developed a loyal following for their prime rib, filet mignon, cedar plank salmon, and porterhouse steak, to name a few. The homemade key lime pie is undoubtedly the best way to cap off this extravagant meal.

On the eastern side of town, Regal Lincolnshire & IMAX shows the newest films in the comfort of plush seating with occasional 3D screenings. IMAX theaters are known for their superb visuals and surreal surround sound, providing a top-of-the-line cinematic experience for patrons.
